TIME CAPSULE PROJECT
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
CLOGS – Clubs, Local Organisations, Groups, and Societies
Aim:
The HHG Time Capsule Project is a dedicated community initiative led by the Hambledon History Group. Our mission is to capture the essence of our village in 2026 for residents to explore in 2076.
Specializing in both physical and digital archives, we gather artifacts, oral histories, and media to ensure Hambledon’s story is preserved. Our commitment to community engagement sets us apart as we work collaboratively with locals.
Through various outreach efforts, we engage residents, businesses, and schools to create a rich legacy.
We aim to leave an insightful legacy of what it is like to live in the parish of Hambledon in 2026. This will enable future readers to really understand not just the “what” but also the “why” of our village society and gain a deeper understanding of our village life and how it has evolved.
CLOGS
What are we looking for?

For each category we ask for some basic information. For example for a business – the type of business you are discussing and when it was established. For individuals and households your name and address and how long you have lived in the village and so on.
We then ask for your thoughts, attitudes, opinions and emotions. You should feel free to write about anything of interest to you. Not just the big issues of the day, but more the apparently trivial and ephemeral topics that will prove to be of great interest in years to come.
We welcome not just written submissions but also photographs, scans and other records that you would like to submit. With digital technology we can capture so much more information.
If you are having technology problems then let us know, we can probably help you.

CLOGS
Category Information
CLOGS is our catchy acronym for the many Clubs, Local Organisations, Groups, and Societies that make Hambledon such a vibrant place to live. This category covers everything from formal bodies like the Parish Council and PCC to long-standing groups like the WI and Scouts, as well as our more informal gatherings like “Knit and Knatter” or the “Old Gits”.
These groups represent the social heart of our village. Because so much can change in 50 years, your submission is vital for helping future readers understand exactly what your group does, who the key people were, and what made your activities special. We even encourage submissions from a range of different members—after all, there is more than one way of looking at things!

Types of Input:
We have provided a simple table document to download, helping to identify your group’s key characteristics. Following that, we invite you to share a more personal commentary about your group’s activities and life in the village today. Future historians will be fascinated by your insights on:
- The Present Day: How well is the group doing right now, and what are your current challenges?
- Highs and Lows: What excites your members, and what are your common frustrations?
- Community Roots: How does your group interact with the wider Hambledon community?
- The Horizon: What are your future intentions and hopes for the group?
Your personal views, and your attitudes and opinions will be valuable to future historians and add richness to the insights they gain. Everything you submit will be treated as Private until it is released in 2076.
